      What is the weather like?

Fiji has a mild and mostly stable tropical maritime climate throughout the year with a wet season from November to April and a dry season from May to October.

 

How long does it take to get there from the mainland (Nadi).                       

You can take the Yasawa Flyer which is a high speed boat - it takes 4.5 hours or travel by Turtle Airways which  takes 30 minutes.

 

Can I learn to Scuba Dive there?

Is there good Snorkeling?

The corals around the Yasawas are absolutely stunning, explore the exotic reefs and the amazing array of fish it s fantastic!

 

Have there been any  movies shot in the area?

Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields was shot just across the bay and it was also the location for the movie Castaway yes, it is that beautiful!

 

What do I need to bring with me?

Fiji is a tropical paradise so light weight clothes are best, of course take your swimmers and a good pair of sunglasses. At night time it does get a little cooler so maybe bring a light weight jumper or sweatshirt. When visiting local villages its best to always wear below the knee skirts and cover your shoulders.

As for handy bits and pieces to have, a torch is a must as on the island depending on where you are as the power gets turned off at 11pm and bring some spare batteries. Don't  forget the insect repellant and make sure its 100% DEET.

If you like snorkeling, we can rent you a set of mask, snorkel and fins for $10.00 with a $20.00 deposit but sometimes it's just best to bring your own.

 

Are there insects?

Of course there are insects but its Fiji and they are harmless.  It s definitely a good idea to pack the insect repellent just to get rid of those mosquitos!

 

What is the food like?

Otto and Fanny make the best food on the island. There is a convenience shop on the property but you can bring your own food and drinks if you like or for $60.00 per day you can enjoy the convenience of having a buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. 

 

Where else can I find out about you, do you have any references?

Lonely Planet have covered Otto and Fannys for the last 9 years and you can also check out the internet by entering in Otto and Fanny Fiji on any search engine and you will find people who have logged their personal trip information.

 

Can I get married on the Island?

Yes!. With a little time and preparation we can organize the most romantic wedding of your dreams.

 

Can I fly to Tavewa?

Turtle Airways is a sea plane and an excellent way to arrive as you get to see all the beautiful islands along the way. It costs $299.00 for a one way flight which you can book through us and payments can be made by credit card or in Fijian currency.

 

Do the Bures have an en suite?

All the Bures and even the dorms have a shower and toilet inside.

 

Is there hot water?

We are currently in the process of getting a hot water supply.
